NationaLease Top Tech Challenge Salutes Top Technicians in North American Truck Leasing Organization

The NationaLease first-ever ‘Top Tech Challenge,’ which tested the organization’s best technicians in a hands-on competition at eight different work stations, found Bill Rundell, a truck maintenance technician with Florida Truck Leasing, a NationaLease Developing Member, to be top in his field. Rundell, along with the first and second runners up, will represent NationaLease at the TMC SuperTech Competition in September.

MeetingJune 30, 2011, Downers Grove, IL – NationaLease inaugurated its first annual “Top Tech Challenge,” a national competition of technicians representing more than 100 full service truck leasing companies from across the country in a test of truck maintenance proficiency. The top three winning technicians will compete in the TMC SuperTech Competition this September and will represent NationaLease, one of the largest full service truck leasing organizations in North America.

Taking the top honor was Bill Rundell of Florida Truck Leasing, a NationaLease Developing Member, based in Apopka, FL. Coming in as first runner up is Eric Tucker of Kris-Way Truck Leasing Inc., a NationaLease Member, in South Portland, ME, while Aaron Tucker (no relation to Eric) from Hogan Truck Leasing, Inc., a NationaLease member in St. Louis, MO, came in as second runner up.

NationaLease first tested technicians from the across the country in an earlier written knowledge exam. From there, the organization brought in the top nine regional winners to Hogan Truck Leasing’s Kansas City, MO, facility to compete in the hands-on portion of the competition. There, they competed in eight stations:

  • Starting and Charging
  • Electrical
  • Brakes
  • Wheel Ends
  • HVAC
  • Engine Diagnostics
  • Electronic Information
  • PMI

MeetingThe top three winners of the competition were saluted at the NationaLease Spring Maintenance Managers Meeting at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City. All three were presented with awards and prizes provided by NationaLease and several of its suppliers, including Shell Oil Products U.S., Allison Transmission, Kidron, and Michelin North America.

The regional winners who did not make the top three but who competed were: Jason Stiles, Valley Equipment Limited, a NationaLease Developing Member; Aaron Allison, Salem NationaLease; Bob Milby, Southeastern NationaLease; Richard Stonecypher, Star Truck Rentals, Inc., a NationaLease Member; Sam Hawkins, Schow’s NationaLease; and Sean Groves, New West Leasing, a NationaLease Developing Member.
