NationaLease Spring Maintenance Managers Meeting May 8-11 to Include 2nd Annual “Top Tech Challenge” and Tours of Michelin Plant and Test Track
May 2, 2012, Downers Grove, IL – NationaLease is expecting to once again break attendance records at its 2012 Spring Maintenance Managers Meeting scheduled for May 8-11 in Greenville, SC. Last year’s
gathering of fleet maintenance managers and other trucking executives from around the country had the largest attendance in the event’s history.
This year’s meeting, to be held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville, will be kicked off on May 8 by the
2nd Annual NationaLease Tech Challenge. There, nine regional winners who earlier qualified in an exam of truck maintenance proficiency will compete head-to-head for the honor of representing the NationaLease organization of full service truck leasing
companies in the TMC SuperTech Competition to be held in September in Pittsburgh.
The keynote speaker at the Spring Maintenance Managers Meeting this year is Jay Blake, racing’s only totally blind race crew chief. Blake is also the founder of the Follow A Dream organization, with the mission of demonstrating the power
of positive thinking, self-determination, and teamwork.
The topic of Blake’s NationaLease meeting address is “Tools for Life Success,” where he will share his personal testimony of how, following a life-changing accident that took his senses of sight,
smell and taste, he was led to realize his own dream of owning a professional racing team.
Another highlight of this year’s meeting are educational tours provided by event sponsor Michelin, which will bring visitors through its Greenville production
and training facilities, as well as host trips to the Michelin test track. Requiring pre-registration, this three-part outing – including a tire manufacturing plant tour, hands-on instruction at the training facility, and high-speed rides on the
two-mile test track – is expected to book quickly.
On Wednesday May 9, Tom Boyer, Vice President of Maintenance for Hogan Truck Leasing, Inc., a NationaLease Member, will give welcoming remarks and introductions. David Nitzsche, NationaLease Vice
President of Supply Management, will give an update on the organization’s supply management program. The day ends with a trade show and welcome reception.
On Thursday May 10, Jay Blake opens the day, followed by a round table discussion on topics
which include 2010 engine issues, emissions, and maintenance costs. Jane Clark, Vice President of NationaLease Member Services, will provide two presentations: an update on the latest services available to the organization’s members and a session
of recruitment of diesel technicians. The last educational session is led by Andy Stopka, NationaLease Vice President of Maintenance, who will speak on the new NationaLease Road Rescue program, as well as corrosion and its effects on maintenance
costs. An awards dinner concludes the day.
On the final day, Stopka will brief attendees on the NationaLease Fleet Connection program, followed by a meeting wrap up, Q&A session, and 2013 planning.
