August 15, 2012, Downers Grove, IL –Newsweek contributing editor Eleanor Clift is a featured speaker at the NationaLease 68th Annual Meeting, September 16-17, in Baltimore,
MD. Currently assigned to report on the policy and politics of the current administration, she will bring sharp insight to the potential impact of November’s presidential election.
Clift writes about the Washington power structure, the influence of women in politics, and other issues. Her speech will focus on how President Barack Obama’s re-election or the election of former Governor Mitt Romney will transform how Washington does business, re-sets its priorities, and confronts major challenges
facing the country. She will also address what the impact will be of a new politically engaged population.
She became a contributing editor for Newsweek in September 1994. As a reporter in Newsweek's Atlanta bureau, Clift covered Jimmy Carter's bid for the presidency. She followed Carter to Washington to become Newsweek's White
House correspondent, a position she held until 1985. Clift began her career as a secretary to Newsweek's National Affairs editor in New York. She was one of the first women at the magazine to move from secretary to reporter. Her column, Capitol
Letter, is posted each Friday on Newsweek.com.
