Suppliers Play a Big Role at 2014 NationaLease Canadian Leadership Summit

Sales training and updates on regulatory issues play a major role in this year’s gathering of sales professionals.

December 22, 2014, Downers Grove, IL – Every year, NationaLease, one of the largest full service truck leasing organizations in North America, brings its sales executives together to discuss the latest industry trends and technology. This year’s meeting was held November 18-19 in Phoenix, AZ.

The opening session began with Jane Clark, Vice President of Member Services, welcoming the group and introducing Dean Vicha, President of NationaLease. Vicha talked about some of the organization’s recent successes as well as anticipated technology enhancements. He was followed by Joe Gallick, Sr. Vice President of Sales for NationaLease, who gave an update on the National Account programs and unveiled the new NationaLease Fleet Connection, a customer Web portal that will give National Account customers a single site to access all the vital information necessary about each vehicle in their fleet. Derek Messalum from Decisiv then explained the new NationaLease Fleet Connection technology and implementation strategies.

Doug Stoiber, Vice President of Produce Transportation Operations for L&M Transportation Services Inc., continued the afternoon session by sharing updates on recent laws and regulations and how they and future laws might impact shippers, customers, and consumers. The first day’s sessions ended with a presentation by a NationaLease customer, Dave Richardson, Corporate Director of Fleet Safety for SRS Distribution, detailing why he chose NationaLease as his leasing partner. Attendees later learned about the latest in supplier products and services at the company’s Trade and Technology Reception.

The second day was dedicated to sharpening the skills of attendees with a full morning Sales Workshop conducted by sales trainer and consultant, Sean Leahy. In this highly interactive session, both new and seasoned sales executives discovered, among other things, the latest and most effective negotiation techniques.

In the afternoon, Kevin Smith, Regional Sales Manager for J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc., spoke about compliance issues specific to the rental and leasing industry, followed by updates on member programs from Jane Clark. A panel on Dedicated Logistics, led by Joe Gallick, focused on the issues and opportunities associated with dedicated contract carriage and how that would give providers a competitive advantage. At the panel’s conclusion, David Nitzsche, Sr. Vice President of Supply Management for NationaLease, discussed new capital improvement programs for the 2015/2016 model year, and the general session ended with a National Account overview provided by NationaLease National Account Executives.
